Mentoring forms a core component of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework and plays a crucial role in promoting holistic student development. The institution has established a structured mentoring system to provide academic, professional, and personal guidance to students. Through systematic interaction between faculty and students, the mentoring process ensures continuous support, performance monitoring, and alignment with the NBA Graduate Attributes.

Objectives

  • To provide academic guidance for improved performance and timely completion of courses.
  • To support students in CO-PO-PSO attainment through continuous monitoring.
  • To identify and address students’ academic, personal, and career-related concerns.
  • To facilitate interaction between faculty and students for personalized attention.
  • To guide students in career planning, higher education, and skill development.
  • To strengthen employability, ethical values, and lifelong learning abilities in line with NBA graduate attributes.

Mentoring Process

  1. Allotment of Students: Each faculty mentor is assigned a fixed group of students, from the first year till completion of the program. The Head of the Department ensures smooth running of the mentoring process.
  2. Regular Interaction: Each class is allocated a weekly mentor hour in the timetable. Each mentor shall conduct mentoring sessions focusing on academic performance, personal growth, and professional planning. Mentors shall guide students in planning for placements, competitive examinations, higher studies, entrepreneurship, and research opportunities. They may also suggest value-added courses, MOOCs, or certifications relevant to the students’ aspirations.
  3. Academic Monitoring: Mentors shall regularly review student attendance, internal assessment marks, and university results. Based on performance, mentors identify slow learners and advanced learners and coordinate appropriate remedial or enrichment activities with course faculty.
  4. Counselling & Guidance: Mentors shall provide a supportive environment to help students deal with academic pressure, emotional issues, and other personal challenges. Students requiring professional help shall be referred to the institutional counsellor.
  5. Communication with Parent: The mentor should maintain regular communication with the parents of their wards through messages, phone calls, or in-person meetings, as necessary. The mentor is also directed send message to each parent individually regarding the progress of their ward.
  6. Documentation: Each mentor shall maintain a Mentoring Record File containing:
    Student details and academic data
    • Meeting records and progress notes
    • Feedback forms
    • Action taken reports
    • Summary of issues addressed and outcomes achieved

Monitoring & Review

  • Reports: Faculty mentors submit semester-wise reports to the Head of the Department.
  • Feedback: Students provide anonymous feedback on mentoring effectiveness.
  • Review: Departmental committee reviews outcomes and suggests improvements.

Expected Outcomes

  • Improved student academic performance and CO-PO attainment.
  • Early identification and support of slow learners and advanced learners.
  • Enhanced student confidence, career readiness, and overall well-being.
