This lab is offered to B.Tech, ECE students and concentrates on introducing the advances in communications. This lab is well equipped with all the microwave devices and optical devices. The Laboratory conducts practical sessions to enable the students to implement their theoretical knowledge and observe the practical results, following outcome based education.

The Project Laboratory offers the students, the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with state-of-the-art environment where students become proficient in both the physical and creative skills needed in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Project Laboratory has a key role in promoting practical learning experience, a place where they develop creative proposals, and execute their final projects. The objective of this laboratory is to provide the infrastructure for conducting the regular lab for M-Tech (Image Processing Lab) and Mini & Major project works for the B-Tech and M-Tech Programs. The lab is equipped with state of the art servers, desktops and software (MATLAB, ORCAD, Xilinx etc.). Also this lab is used for conducting project presentation and project exam of final year students.

List of Experiments

  1. Representation of Grayscale and colour images
  2. Image transformations: Grey level transformations, Histogram equalization and modifications, Geometric transformations, affine transformations.
  3. Image Transforms: DFT, DCT, KLT, etc.
  4. Image filtering: Fourier descriptors, Linear and non-linear filtering operations in spatial and transform domain, Image convolutions, Separable convolutions, Sub-sampling and interpolation as convolution operations
  5. Edge detection: Edge enhancement by differentiation, Effect of noise, edge detection and canny implementation, Edge detector performance evaluation.
  6. Segmentation: Thresholding algorithms, Performance evaluation and ROC analysis Connected components labelling, Region growing and region adjacency graph (RAG), Split and merge algorithms.
  7. Morphological operation: Erode and dilate as max and min operators on binary images, open, close, thinning and other transforms.
  8. Computed Tomography: Implementation of FBP and CBP algorithms for parallel beam tomography.

The Department Library provides a dedicated academic resource facility for students and staff. It has a useful collection of prescribed textbooks, reference books, project and seminar reports, and previous-year question papers. The resources are maintained to support teaching, learning, project work, seminar preparation, examination preparation, and academic reference.

The Department Library is available as needed during all regular working days of the institution.

Users:

Students and staff of the department can make use of the library resources for academic and reference purposes

Utilization:

Students and staff can refer to textbooks and reference books relevant to their curriculum. Students can also refer to previous-year question papers for examination preparation and use seminar and project reports as references for selecting topics, understanding methodologies, and developing project work.

Purpose:

The Department Library supports independent learning, enhances subject knowledge, encourages academic reference, and provides students with additional resources beyond classroom teaching.

The Central Library provides students and faculty with access to a comprehensive collection of books, journals, e-resources, and digital learning materials. It offers a quiet and supportive environment for academic learning, research, self-study, and knowledge enhancement.

The Digital Library at LBS Institute of Technology for Women provides students and faculty with convenient access to e-books, digital journals, research resources, and other online learning materials. It supports flexible, technology-enabled learning and encourages students to explore knowledge beyond the traditional library resources.

Apart from the above program specific laboratories CCF with following facilities are available.

Though the above mentioned labs have software and hardware adequate to meet the curriculum components, modern software tools/techniques are installed in CCF for enabling the students to give expertise to such tools and techniques.

A Central Computing Facility is available to access internet for students and faculty members.

The Skill Delivery Platform Kerala (SDPK) is a Government of Kerala initiative aimed at providing engineering and polytechnic students with industry-relevant, technology-enabled skill development and training. The platform connects educational institutions with industry experts and technology hubs, enabling students to gain exposure to emerging technologies through interactive and remote learning. SDPK leverages Hi-Tech classrooms and advanced telepresence technologies to facilitate expert-led training programmes while fostering collaboration between academia and industry. The initiative helps bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by enhancing students’ technical skills, employability, and professional readiness.
